There is always a risk of contracting a particular disease while traveling. In a bid to reduce the chances of such occurrences, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have listed some vaccinations under the category of routine, recommended and routine for all international travelers. The requirement to get these immunizations depends on several factors such as the country that the traveler resides in and the destination country, his or her age and medical condition.
If you are headed for Europe, it is highly recommended that you get routine shots for diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus, also known as DPT. You can also get an MMR shot that include vaccination against mumps, measles and rubella. However, if you are Asia, Africa or South America bound; it is advisable to take vaccination for yellow fever, typhoid, hepatitis and malaria.
